A2Ls are slow to ignite and have slow flame speed so are considered safer than some alternatives. However, they still require careful handling due to this moderate flammability. High-pressure refrigerant cylinders are equipped with pressure relief devices (PRDs) that ensure the cylinder does not become over pressurized. However, PFAS contains more than 10,000 chemicals and different types of PFAS are shown to have different levels of health and environmental impact. Based on the EPA findings, the PFAS in refrigerants are non-bio-cumulative and non-toxic.
