A2Ls are slow to ignite and have slow flame speed so are considered safer than some alternatives. However, they still require careful handling due to this moderate flammability. High-pressure refrigerant cylinders are equipped with pressure relief devices (PRDs) that ensure the cylinder does not become over pressurized. Based on the EPA findings, the PFAS in refrigerants are non-bio-cumulative and non-toxic.
